Sailor Moon Book Tag

I'm not sure entirely what happened, but apparently I deleted the tags I've previously done? I don't know....anyway, let's start over again with the Sailor Moon Tag! Sailor Moon is a show I used to watch all the time with a friend of mine. I have fond memories of it and I am looking forward to this tag.

Sailor Moon: A Book that Makes You Hungry
Starting this off weird. I suppose James and the Giant Peach by Roald Dahl is one of them. Because when I read it, I thought of the movie and when they were eating the peach at the end. Then I kind of wanted peaches. Another would be Crazy Rich Asians by Kevin Kwan after the scene at the wedding when they are talking about all the foods.

Mercury: A Book that Features Science or Technology
I'm going to go with Jay Asher's 13 Reasons Why because of how heavily it featured the use of a cassette tape player, which I count as technology! This book followed a girl who committed suicide and then left her note in the form of a series of tapes that people had to listen to. OH! A good one! The Rise and Fall of D.O.D.O. by Neal Stephenson and Nicole Galland. The entire book is about building a machine that can perform time travel...science and technology!

Venus: A Book that Makes You Want to Play Video Games
Again, two for this. I have been having a run of two. The ones I have now are Ender's Game by Orson Scott Card because of how they train the soldiers via a virtual reality game. Then the other, which I haven't read yet, but I plan to pick up soon, is Ready Player One by Ernest Cline. I think it's fairly obvious why this one would make me want to play games!

Mars: A Book Inspired by Mythology or Folklore
I'm going to take the easy way out and say The Lightning Thief by Rick Riordan. It was the first of his books that I read. It is inspired by Greek mythology. There is also the other series of his that follow Egyptian mythology and Roman. Then there is Yoon Ha Lee's book Dragon Pearl a book that was inspired by Korean folklore about gumiho. I haven't read that one, but I want to. It's high on my list.

Jupiter: A Book that Gave You Strong Feelings
The book that gave me the strongest feelings was The Lesser Bohemians by Eimear McBride. I couldn't stand this book. It was so just confused and I had too hard of a time trying to read it. I think I'll give it another chance...but I didn't know how to get through it. It infuriated me. Have you ever felt like that? Like you just couldn't take it any more with a book?

Saturn: A Post-Apocalyptic Book
The first one that comes to mind that I've read is Behind the Gates by Eva Gray. It was meh? It follows girls (and boys sort of) after a great "war" of some nature that ends up with jeans being $500 and people being sent off to a school of some nature. Another that would count is Renegades by Marissa Meyer because it takes place after something devastating to that universe. I can't think of any others offhand right now.

Pluto: A Book Featuring Time Travel
I own a few that feature time travel. Outlander by Diana Gabaldon is one. I haven't read it, but I know it features time travel in it. Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban by J.K. Rowling is another because of Hermione Granger's Time Turner. I'm also going to count Homestuck #1: Acts 1 & 2 by Andrew Hussie here because there are Time players who can go back and forth altering time or stealing it. The variations on that are endless, plus we also see two different timelines that end up merging together into another time.

Uranus: A Book Featuring Elemental Magic
Hmmm...what will I pick for this? I suppose this will be a lot of my Pagan books. I'll go with Earth, Air, Fire, and Water by Scott Cunningham. It's sort of a how-to book with elemental magic. It uses the natural world (leaves, stones, feathers, rain) to aid in one's magickal working. I've not read it yet, but it is more like a cookbook than a reading book.

Neptune: A Book Featuring Music
Uh? I don't know. I'm going with the only book I know I have that has music as a feature: The Magic Strings of Frankie Presto by Mitch Albom. It's another book I haven't read, but I know for a fact it's about a musician named Frankie Presto. I don't know anything else.

Tuxedo Mask: A Book with Masquerades or Hidden Identities
I'm going to use The Kiss of Deception by Mary E. Pearson for this because for the entire length of the book we know two names: Rafe and Kaden. We know one of them is a Prince and one is a man hired to find the main female. We don't know which is which until the very very end when Lia herself figures it out. I read this one and plan to reread it again soon because I loved it. I have the other two in the series and intend to read them as well.

Chibi-Moon: Favorite Middle Grade Book
Hands down it's going to be The Capture by Kathryn Lasky. It's the first book (and only one I've read so far) in the Guardians of Ga'Hoole series in which nearly the entire cast are various species of owls. Anyone who knows me knows that my favorite bird in this world are owls. They tie with horses for my favorite animal in general. I am reading the series over again and plan to go all the way to #15 this time. I want to conclude the series and get the resolution I need. Plus I just want to revisit Tyto's Forest and see Soren again.

Luna, Artemis, & Diana: A Book for Animal Lovers
I can think of a few. Dewey by Vicki Myron, a cute nonfiction book about the life of Dewey the Library Cat in Iowa. Then also The Cat Who Went to Heaven by Elizabeth Coatsworth. A story about a lucky cat that made his owner happy. That's the ones I can think of right away that I've read.

I hope you've enjoyed this particular tag! I'll see you in the next one~

Quarterly Goals Review #2: April - June 2019

1) Meet/Exceed 2019 Goodreads Goal: As of the writing of this particular post, I am at 40/50. That puts me 15 books ahead of schedule. I am confident I can reach 50/50 by my birthday. Then it will be all bonus books. If I read the rest of my June TBR, I'll be at 57/50. (114% lol) I'm thinking of mostly monthly goals of 12 books for the back half of the year. 3 planned and 3 mood from both my physical and digital collections. That's still 72 books. I would end the year out with 112/50 (242%).

2) Review 80% of the Books I Read: As far as I recall (and after checking GR), I have reviewed 100% of the books I have read so far this year. I hope to keep this up for the rest of the year. So far, so good.

3) Enter & Win at Least One Camp NaNo & NaNoWriMo: I failed Camp NaNo April 2019 with ~15,000 of the 30,000 I meant to write. This time, for Camp NaNo July 2019, I've lowered my goal to 25,000. My project is an original LGBT+ Contemporary Romance. I'll definitely update in the next review if I made it or not.

4) Stick to Book Buying Restriction: This was another failure. I totally didn't stick to it at all. This time around, I totally want to stick to it for Jul-Sep. I'm not going to count the last weekend of June, as it will still be in the second quarter. I'll be starting the restriction of only buying one book for one book read in July.

5) Publish Two Stories by Any Means: This one is another sort of failure. I'm actively writing and editing several original works that will be going up probably on FictionPress and a few fanfictions that I will be uploading to FanFiction. I count that because they are going out for the world to read. I still have 6 months to get something out there.

This CR is a short one because I'm just trying to get back on schedule. I usually post on my Saturday off...but I have forgotten in the last couple of weeks. This time I'm going to get back to it! I will leave myself a note somewhere to remember to post it.

Still chugging my way through Kane & Abel. Still unsure if I like it or not. I'm barely on page like 75...of 500-something. I don't know. I don't want to just quit, but it hasn't picked up yet. We're still getting just getting started with the tales of the two boys.
